Solid braid cotton rope is a firm round braided cord manufactured in a parallel construction. Solid braid cotton can be manufactured from 100% natural cotton yarn, a blend of cotton and spun polyester yarns, or the blended yarns with a synthetic core. It can be supplied with a natural or polished finish. The 100% natural braid is biodegradable and is suitable for use with pets and livestock. The most common construction is often referred to as “sash cord”, and is made from the blended yarns with a synthetic core and has a polished finish. Another popular construction is made from 100% natural cotton yarn with no finish and is commonly referred to as cotton weeping cord. This product is used extensively in masonry and brick work. Other applications for these products include window sash cord, , awning cord, tent line, clothes line, and halyards. Cotton solid braid can also be supplied to U.S. Federal specification A-A-55622, (superceded T-C-571F), and supplied with a natural or mildew resistance finish to T-T-616B. Solid braid cotton can be supplied on spools, in hanks, or in custom cut lengths. The specifications listed below apply to the blended yarn construction with the synthetic core.
*SAFE WORK LOAD – Safe working load is 5-20% of the listed tensile strength depending on the age and condition of the rope. Refer to Cordage Usage for details.
