The main differences between 550 and 650 paracord are diameter and breaking strength. 550 paracord is a 32 carrier braided nylon with a 7-strand nylon core and breaks strength of approximately 525 pounds. 650 paracord is a 32 carrier braided nylon with a 4-strand textured nylon core and break strength of approximately 300-350 pounds.
However, keep in mind the 550 paracord is not made from the same quality yarns or tested like the Mil-Spec rope.
